Subject: Went back to PT today...

Hi Stan!

Firstly, thank you so much for the add a while back. I feel so connected with so many ppl. It truly is a blessing to me. I really want to thank you for creating this place for us...we all love you for it!!!

Thing is I started PT again after being on "hiatus" for over a year. Main reason is that I'm going to have bariatric surgery next month and I wanted to get a jump on the recovery.

Its not the only reason, though. I had a pretty bad flare at the end of May and it left me about 10 percent less than what I was prior to the flare.

The weakness in my legs and hips is, well, when it's bad, it's bad. And it took me longer to recover this time than the previous 2 flares. About 6 weeks. I did the whole IV Solumedrol thing (5 days) with the horrible prednisone taper (I hate that taper).

And my neuro wants me to start Rebif, since my last MRI in April didn't look, well, "great." Lots of lesions--all over my brain, C Spine and T Spine.

I'm on Copaxone now, but looking forward to Rebif.

I guess I just see this as a turning point. Tomorrow is my 40th bday. Today someone commented that I dont look 40--more like 30!! I guess thats a good thing, except I feel like Im 60!

The surgery, the PT, the weight loss, Rebif...it'll be good, eh?

Im not looking for miracles, but I would like to be able not tire out when Im playing with my kids and I really would like to appear to the "outside" that I am NOT intoxicated (aka tripping over my own feet) because my balance is so way off! (lol!!)

Lots of hugs to you, Stan, and to all the angels!!

God bless!!

(((Kimberly))). Who ever said you don't look 40 is right on. I think your fooling with us. LOL. I hopoe you have a great day today sweetie. The switch to rebif, I will be praying that it does what your doctor wants it to do. I love your attitude. But don't be embarrassed about tripping over your own feet. I do it all the time. I have gotten use to it. I will be praying that everything goes well. Surgery, PT, everything sweetie.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Graham

Happy early Birthday, Kim! Best of luck with the Rebif. I've been on it for a year now. Aside from the medication, their support line "MS LifeLines" is great, and they have a neat Ambassador program. I hope you feel better soon .. Bubba and everybody else is right .. you look 29 going on 30, not 39 going on 40, but I hear ya on the feeling 60 part. :-p As far as stumbling goes, man I used to do that all the time way before MS reached out and goosed me good, but it ended up being years of practice of catching myself gracefully. :) Take care!

Hi Kimberly, I am on Copaxone and I started rebif for a medical study. It made me feel worse. Just be aware of how you feel before and after. I went back on Copaxone and I feel a lot better then I did on Rebif. My wife and I are now thinking about changing to Tysabri. My doctor says It is a good idea, but I have done some research and I am still not sure yet.

((((Hugs Kimberly)))) First of all, HAPPY 40th BIRTHDAY!!!! Don't let the well-wishers hit you with all that "Over the Hill" stuff either. Shoot in a couple more years I'll be turning 50. Good luck with the Rebif, I hope it's a good alternative for you. WOW, good luck with the bariatric surgery too. Much love and hugs ~Shirley

hi kimberly,

i came across the following in an MSFYI newsletter today:

EASY ACCESS TO REBIF THERAPY
MS LifeLines Access Made Simple, a new program launched by EMD Serono, Inc., is designed to provide easy access to therapy for people with relapsing forms of MS who have either been newly prescribed Rebif by their physician or who have restarted Rebif therapy after having discontinued its use for more than 90 days. This program is only available to patients in the U.S.

All eligible participants will receive up to one year of therapy regardless of income level, with no more than a $50 co-payment required of any patient.

To learn more, visit http://www.emdserono.com or call 1-877-447-3243.

thought it might be interesting to look into. good luck with the therapy change! ~jen
