{PAIN MEDS}.................I was wondering if there was anyone that was taking Neurotin (spelling?) for pain - Brandy

Hey Stan.

I was wondering if there was anyone that was taking Neurotin (spelling?) for pain.

I've been having back pain on and off now for about a year or so. but the last week or so has been pretty much constant with very few breaks.

Feels like someone shoving a kife in my back at times. Last night I had no choice but to take the medicine. I was in bed just before 8:00 last night due to the pain. Just not one to let others see my pain.

Makes me kinda feel like I'm "complaining" and thats just not me at all. I'd rather hide it. I was just wondering how others that have taken Neurotin have done on it. It helped ease off the pain but didn't completely take it away.

Figured I'd give it another week andsee if it eases off any then call my doctor. I know thats what they are there for but I still hesitate to call.

Don't want to bother them to much I guess...lol.

Thank you for you time!

Huggs!
Brandy

Brandy-hi. how r u? i have tried neurontin. didn't work for squat with me, but that is not to say it wont work for others. drugs are kinda funny that way. just made me drunk is all, like an OD. i use tegretol and swear by it for nuerologic pain.

(((((((BRANDY))))))) I am taking Neurotin for severe nerve pain in my right hand. I has helped me and am very happy taking it. It doesn't take the pain away...I guess I would say it dulls that pain and I'm still able to use my hand pretty good. Since I'm right handed (of course) it's allowed me to still be able to write and do most everything I need to. There is some weakness but it does help with the pain. Don't be afraid to call your docs...that's what they are there for...it's our job to bother them!!!!

Many hugs to you~~~

Hi Brandy,

Neurotin as well as working for some nerve pain is also a seizure medication. So it is not something you can take like a pain pill for a as needed thing. I take mine everyday at the same times everyday. It does not completely take the pain away but it does help take the edge off so I can function. Goodluck!
warm hugs,
Mary

Michele

Hi Brandy~I was on Neurontin for several years. I have chronic pain in the neck. I was up to 3200 mg/day. My Neurologist kept raising the Neurontin, but it never did take all the pain away. I started a new drug a couple of months ago called Lyrica. Read my message on Stan's blog to get all the info.

I will pray for you sweetie. Know it's tough to have pain. I've had it for 7 years. If you need hugs or someone to lean on, we are all here for you.

Hugs,
Michele

I have taken neurontin for numbness and pain. I don't think it worked that well for me. I think it helped me gain weight. I quit taking neurontin. I think it works best if it is taken every eight hours continously.

I use to get stabbing pain in my rt. thigh, it went away after about a year. It would come and go, it was such a weird feeling like some was actually using a knife on me. You could ask your Dr. about the pain reliever Michelle is talking about...

(((((((Brandy)))))))

I take Neurontin three times a day, it's for nerve pain. While Neurontin does not take the pain away completely, it helps "dull" the pain as Neurontin, I believe, is primarily used in epilepsy (it slows down the brain impulses which controlled the nerves).

I hope you feel much better very soon and I'm sending you caught

((((((((( big hugs and prayers )))))))))

Trish

Hi Brandy I have been taking Neurotin for about a year for Trigeminal neuralgia. It is more for nerve related pain and needs to be take as prescribed. I take 300mg 3x a day and if I miss one dose I have small amounts of breakthrough pain but without it the pain would be unbearable. Try taking it exactly as your Dr. prescribed before giving up on it.

Hope you feel better
Trish
